I was in Stockholm for a couple of days this week and went to a Jimmy Eat World concert Tuesday night. It was great!

Startup Weekend

I have been discussing the possibility of hosting a Startup Weekend in Kalmar with a few people. It seems to interest them. It’s very tempting to follow through and so I will continue to evaluate the possibilities, talk to people and see what happens. Let me know if you want to participate and/or help out with the event.

Cross-country skiing in Sälen

I’m back in Kalmar again after a really fun and relaxing time in Karlstad and Sälen. I have a notion 2008 will be a great year! If not, I will be pushing on to make it great. If you have anything exciting going on this year, be sure to let me know about it.

Unga Aktiesparare

On sunday I got back from a weekend of education and workshops with Unga Aktiesparare (non-profit organization for young stock savers/traders). I will be starting up a local division in Kalmar/Nybro. The idea is to promote trading among young people (7 - 29 yrs) and educate them in stocks, mutual funds and other stock-related instruments. More information on their website (Swedish).

Kiva.org

I found Kiva.org about 6 months ago. I believe it was mentioned in the long/short questions during an interview on Wallstrip. Kiva gives people the possibility of supporting entrepreneurs in developing countries by providing them a micro loan. It’s a really great way to support development and growth. Turtle Trader

This is a very interesting concept. In the beginning of 2007 I found a book that interested me and so I bought it. It’s called Trend Following by Michael Covel. On his website Turtle Trader he writes about trend following traders, hedge funds but also society, life and trading in general. It’s truly interesting. I also subscribe to his Podcast. He’s got a new book about “the turtles” that is just out. Go check it out!

I got back from Hamburg monday evening. The Startup Weekend was great fun! For those of you who don’t know what a Startup Weekend is, you can check out http://www.startupweekend.com. We created a service called Edelbild, which enhances pictures. Unfortunately we didn’t get to launch it during the weekend, but a beta version is in the works and will hopefully appear on http://www.edelbild.de in the not-so-distant future.
